I didn’t necessarily start this blog as an outlet for my thoughts and opinions but to document my pursuit of what I love to do which is making people look and feel better with the clothes they wear. But in the last year I have realized that while I still love doing this, helping someone to feel comfortable in their own skin may be the real task at hand and rewarding experience. I realize that it takes much more to make someone feel better about themselves and once the lipstick is wiped off, heels taken off and earrings put away, we are all really defined by our own thoughts. So make sure those thoughts are positive. I know that the way we present ourselves to the world can really change the way the others perceive us. After all, I am in an industry where image is everything. I know first hand how putting on that amazing new pair of shoes or crisp new dress makes you feel, you could go from having the worst day to feeling like a million bucks. Clothes take you places you can’t go….but the vacay is temporary more like a 3 day weekend. Unless you have the means to keep shopping to get that next quick fix, spending the money can leave you broke or with debt. So my blog will evolve just as I have. I will now write about a range of topics: of course fashion, events, health, food, fitness, fun and other random topics I find interesting in the moment, maybe even things that motivate me to be a better me. If I am able to make one person smile or think or impact your life in some way then mission accomplished. So stay tuned…it’s gonna be real
Aren’t we all just a work in progess….
It’s what inside that counts
For tips on living a healthy lifestyle check out this blog written by a good friend of mine. She offers a lot of healthy tips and let’s face it what we put in our body makes more of a difference than what we put on it. (Although being wrapped in a pretty package is not completely bad). And who needs SPANX, when you eat right and exercise regularly?

Sunscreen!
Memorial day weekend is behind us and even though the sun isn’t consistently shining, it is time to start thinking about extra protection from the sun. If you are not wearing sunscreen daily, you better start today. I know how overwhelming it can be shopping for sunscreen there are SO many to choose from. I am going to make it really simple for you and let you in on a secret. There are two ingredients that are absolutely essential….titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and they must be the active ingredients and these ingredients also make it sunblock. Sunblock contains physical or inorganic ingredients that reflect and scatter the UVB light and acts as a wall between your skin and the sun.
Check out this sunscreen that I used for some time that I absolutely LOVE that has the right active ingredients!

Sunglasses! My new favorite accessory
I have a new love…sunglasses! Not only are they fashionable but they protect your eyes at the same time, they provide UV protection, help you avoid eye diseases and cataracts and some even provide x-ray vision…ok that last claim is false, just kidding! There are so many to choose from that you must have more than one pair. There is sporty, classic and fashion options, polarized and non-polarized and plastic vs. metal. So, it all begins with deciding whether you want a plastic or metal frame. Then figuring which frame fits your face best and you will have to try on many pairs to figure this out. And whether your eyebrows show or not is a personal preference. Are you the glam or sporty type, what will you be doing while wearing these glasses? Do you want a polarized or non-polarized pair (polarized lenses reduce 99.9% of glare and make colors more vibrant). Then trying on more than one until you get it right. I recommend having more than one pair and everyone should at least own a pair of Wayfarers (the LBD of sunglasses) or Aviators. They are both classic styles…..think Top Gun and Risky Business
Then layer on some other pairs maybe some Jackie O shades or a shield!! Gotta love full-coverage shades that protect the delicate skin around your eyes and I know how the ladies love wrinkle prevention.
This is the perfect time to shop for sunglasses since the sun is out since Spring is underway….so happy shopping!
Time for Spring Cleaning!
Even though it is raining outside, today is the official 1st day of Spring!! There is something about the spring air that I love especially after a good downpour. Even though the weather is still a little chilly it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning and what better place to start then your very own closet. It’s time to transition and pull out all those spring/summer clothes that you hid away last Fall. Remember fur, velvet and wool should stay in the closet until next Fall/Winter season. While you are going through your closet remember there are a lot of great charities that will distribute your unwanted items to those that really need them. If you are thinking about parting with some gently worn shoes Soles4Souls is a great org and they are currently distributing to victims in Japan.
I can also help you go through your closet!!, please contact me at 805.665.8835 if interested.
Is it Fall?
According to the calendar it is Fall, but those of us that live in Southern California would disagree. By this date I would say that it’s time to transition your closet so let’s just pretend it’s not 68 degrees outside. I am going to give you some tips on how to transition your closet for the cooler months ahead.
*The first thing you should do is go through your closet and take a look to decide if there is anything you know that you will absolutely not wear again and put in the donation pile
*Put all those sleeveless tanks/tank tops away in a drawer or towards the back of your closet unless you will use as a layering piece
*Pull out all those sweaters from last year and make sure they don’t have any unwanted balls,,,,take a disposable shaver and shave them off if they do…Sweaters should now be nearest the entrance of your closet
*Summer skirts, shorts and capri pants should go in a drawer or to the back of the closet and fall bottoms should be front and forward
* Organize your shoes, I like keeping some of my special shoes in boxes until it’s time to wear them again, this keeps them in the best condition
*Pull out those boots, take them to shoe repair for a quick polish, I like Lee’s Shoe Repair, (1806 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93001-3409) he’ll make your boots look brand new!!
Now you should be all set for the Fall and Winter months ahead
Happy organizing
